Abstract<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Balance is a relevant indicator of physical fitness and correlates with intellectual abilities. Due to limited resources, however, balance tests are underrepresented in fitness checks. To develop an effective field test to assess static balance with minimal cost, little spatial requirement and short testing time, a cross-sectional pilot study was conducted in three different school types (primary school, secondary school, and high school) and the reliability, objectivity and validity of the novel Austrian Balance Check (ABC) were assessed, with the generation of age- and gender-specific reference values. Tests were carried out with participants from regular school classes (RSC) and elite sports school classes (ESC). A total of 1005 participants were included (age range: 6.2 to 19.8 years). Participants in RSC (ICC2.1<\/sub> = 0.92, 95% CI 0.90 to 0.93) showed excellent values, and those in ESC (ICC2.1<\/sub> = 0.89, 95% CI 0.85 to 0.93) had good to excellent values in the reliability test. Objectivity was excellent in both groups (RSC (ICC2.1<\/sub> = 0.99, 95% CI 0.98 to 0.99); ESC (ICC2.1<\/sub> = 0.98, 95% CI 0.96 to 0.99)). A gold standard comparison using an electronic force plate showed a strong negative correlation: participants with high overall ABC scores showed less movement on the force plate (parameters of the center of pressure: surface area (\u03c1 = \u22120.61), mean velocity (\u03c1 = \u22120.65) and path length (\u03c1 = \u22120.65). The test duration of ABC was significantly (p < 0.001) shorter compared with an established balance test. ABC offers potential benefits by allowing field-based static balance testing in large groups with low cost, minimal time and spatial requirements as well as high reliability, objectivity and validity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zusammenfassung<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Das Gleichgewicht ist ein wichtiger Indikator f\u00fcr die k\u00f6rperliche Fitness und korreliert mit den intellektuellen F\u00e4higkeiten. Aufgrund begrenzter Ressourcen sind Gleichgewichtstests bei Fitnesschecks jedoch unterrepr\u00e4sentiert. Um einen effektiven Feldtest zur Beurteilung des statischen Gleichgewichts mit minimalen Kosten, geringem Platzbedarf und kurzer Testzeit zu entwickeln, wurde eine Querschnitts-Pilotstudie in drei verschiedenen Schularten (Grundschule, Sekundarschule und Gymnasium) durchgef\u00fchrt und die Zuverl\u00e4ssigkeit, Objektivit\u00e4t und G\u00fcltigkeit des neuartigen Austrian Balance Check (ABC) bewertet, wobei alters- und geschlechtsspezifische Referenzwerte erstellt wurden. Die Tests wurden mit Teilnehmern aus regul\u00e4ren Schulklassen (RSC) und Elitesport-Schulklassen (ESC) durchgef\u00fchrt. Insgesamt wurden 1005 Teilnehmer einbezogen (Altersspanne: 6,2 bis 19,8 Jahre). Die Teilnehmer der Regelschule (ICC2.1<\/sub> = 0,92, 95 % KI 0,90 bis 0,93) zeigten hervorragende Werte und die Teilnehmer der Eliteschule (ICC2.1<\/sub> = 0,89, 95 % KI 0,85 bis 0,93) zeigten gute bis hervorragende Werte im Zuverl\u00e4ssigkeitstest. Die Objektivit\u00e4t war in beiden Gruppen ausgezeichnet (RSC (ICC2.1<\/sub> = 0,99, 95 % KI 0,98 bis 0,99); ESC (ICC2.1<\/sub> = 0,98, 95 % KI 0,96 bis 0,99)). Ein Goldstandard-Vergleich unter Verwendung einer elektronischen Kraftmessplatte zeigte eine starke negative Korrelation: Teilnehmer mit hohen ABC-Gesamtpunktzahlen zeigten weniger Bewegung auf der Kraftmessplatte (Parameter des Kraftangriffspunkts: Fl\u00e4che (\u03c1 = -0,61), mittlere Geschwindigkeit (\u03c1 = -0,65) und Wegl\u00e4nge (\u03c1 = -0,65). Die Testdauer von ABC war im Vergleich zu einem etablierten Gleichgewichtstest signifikant (p < 0,001) k\u00fcrzer. ABC bietet potenzielle Vorteile, da es kosteng\u00fcnstige, zeit- und platzsparende Gleichgewichtstests vor Ort in gro\u00dfen Gruppen erm\u00f6glicht und dabei eine hohe Zuverl\u00e4ssigkeit, Objektivit\u00e4t und Validit\u00e4t bietet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
