Despite its ease of administration, it is underutilized in health-related fitness batteries. This underrepresentation is primarily due to the confounding effects of anthropometric variables, such as body weight and height, which distort performance outcomes and limit comparability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Objective:<\/strong> This model calculation aims to quantify the isolated effect of body height (hB) on MBT performance and to demonstrate how typical height variations among peers can distort performance evaluations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Methods:<\/strong> A ceteris paribus analysis was conducted using biomechanical algorithms established by De Mestre. Variables that can be modified through physical or technical-tactical training (release velocity [vR], release angle [\u03b1]) and gravity (g) were held constant. Only release height (hR)\u2014which is directly dependent on unmodifiable body height\u2014was treated as a variable. The fixed parameters were set at \u03b1 = 30\u00b0, g = 9.81 m\/s\u00b2, and vR = 5.5 m\/s for the standing chest throw, and vR = 8.0 m\/s for the standing overhead throw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Results:<\/strong> The model demonstrates that typical intra-age height variations in children and adolescents (20\u201330 cm) result in throwing distance differences of approximately 15 to 30 cm. When applying standard normative reference values, this discrepancy is sufficient to categorize identical physical and technical performances into entirely different classifications (e.g., shifting from &#8222;average&#8220; to &#8222;good&#8220;) based purely on stature. Taller participants systematically benefit from a higher hR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Conclusion:<\/strong> Relying solely on absolute throwing distance in the MBT creates a strong bias in favor of anthropometrics, thereby compromising test fairness and validity. To enhance the utility of the MBT as an accurate and equitable assessment tool in modern health and fitness monitoring systems, alternative evaluation methods must be developed. These future models must imperatively incorporate body height and weight into the performance classification framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Zusammenfassung<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Hintergrund:<\/strong> Der Medizinballwurf (Medicine Ball Throw, MBT) ist ein etablierter und kosteneffizienter Feldtest zur Erfassung der explosiven Oberk\u00f6rperkraft. Trotz seiner einfachen Durchf\u00fchrbarkeit wird er in gesundheitsbezogenen Testbatterien nur selten eingesetzt. Ein Hauptgrund hierf\u00fcr ist die Verzerrung der Testergebnisse durch anthropometrische Faktoren wie K\u00f6rpergewicht und K\u00f6rpergr\u00f6\u00dfe, welche die Vergleichbarkeit und Aussagekraft mindern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Zielsetzung:<\/strong> Ziel dieser Modellrechnung ist es, den isolierten Einfluss der K\u00f6rpergr\u00f6\u00dfe (hB) auf die Leistung im MBT zu quantifizieren und aufzuzeigen, wie intra-altersspezifische Gr\u00f6\u00dfenunterschiede die Leistungsbewertung verf\u00e4lschen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Methoden:<\/strong> Basierend auf den biomechanischen Algorithmen von De Mestre wurde eine Ceteris-paribus-Analyse durchgef\u00fchrt. Parameter, die durch physisches oder technisch-taktisches Training optimiert werden k\u00f6nnen (Abwurfgeschwindigkeit [vR], Abwurfwinkel [\u03b1]), sowie die Gravitation (g) wurden konstant gehalten. Einzig die Abwurfh\u00f6he (hR) \u2013 welche in direkter Relation zur nicht-trainierbaren K\u00f6rpergr\u00f6\u00dfe steht \u2013 wurde als Variable betrachtet. Die festgelegten Parameter betrugen \u03b1 = 30\u00b0, g = 9,81 m\/s\u00b2 sowie vR = 5,5 m\/s f\u00fcr den Brustwurf und vR = 8,0 m\/s f\u00fcr den \u00dcberkopfwurf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Ergebnisse:<\/strong> Die Modellrechnung demonstriert, dass typische Gr\u00f6\u00dfenvarianzen bei Kindern und Jugendlichen (20\u201330 cm) zu Differenzen in der Wurfweite von etwa 15 bis 30 cm f\u00fchren. Bei der Anwendung g\u00e4ngiger normativer Referenzwerte reicht diese Abweichung aus, um identische physische und technisch-taktische Leistungen allein aufgrund der K\u00f6rpergr\u00f6\u00dfe in unterschiedliche Kategorien (z. B. von \u201edurchschnittlich\u201c auf \u201egut\u201c) einzuordnen. Gr\u00f6\u00dfere Probanden profitieren systematisch von einer h\u00f6heren hR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Schlussfolgerung:<\/strong> Die alleinige Messung der absoluten Wurfweite beim MBT wird durch anthropometrische Voraussetzungen stark verzerrt, was die Chancengleichheit und Validit\u00e4t der Beurteilung einschr\u00e4nkt.
